MindBlown LabsWe’re big fans of Mindblown Labs here at AvatarGeneration and are delighted to hear they’ve reached their $60,000 Kickstarter goal to launch a new mobile game – Mindblown Life (MBL).

Mindblown Life is a mobile social game that combines life-simulation elements with irreverent humor to help young adults develop money management and financial literacy skills.

Over the past 27 days, 650+ people have contributed to Mindblown Life. This far-reaching support makes Mindblown Life the second most successful exclusively mobile game campaign and the second most successful educational game campaign in Kickstarter history. If the campaign raises just $13,000 more, it will become the most successful exclusively mobile game campaign to launch on Kickstarter.

Perhaps the most notable thing about Mindblown Labs’ raising so much money on Kickstarter is the extent to which their campaign is different than most of the highly-successful gaming campaigns (those that raise more than $50,000). The chief differences are that: Mindblown Life is an exclusively mobile game (most video games on Kickstarter are PC games); and MBL is an educational game (most video games on Kickstarter are for exclusively entertainment purposes).

With two days remaining in the campaign, the Mindblown Team has now turned its attention to pursuing stretch goals, which are additional features that will significantly enhance gameplay and the overall effectiveness of the game. While hitting their initial goal will allow the team to launch a great game, hitting one or more of their stretch goals will enable the team to launch a “mindblowing” game (pun intended).

Jason Young, Founder and CEO, said: “We are excited and appreciate that so many people have contributed their hard-earned cash to help us launch Mindblown Life.”

He continued, “Hitting our stretch goals will enable us to: add more depth to the careers that players can pursue (at $75,000); develop a version of the game for the iPad; add a university system; add a pranks system; etc. We’re mainly focused on reaching our first stretch goal (Career Power-Ups) and then going from there.”

Mindblown Life will empower millions of young Americans to take control of their lives by helping them make better financial decisions. It provides the 20/20 vision that comes from hindsight, without the negative consequences or Saturday morning phone calls from debt collectors.

Mindblown Life is currently in private beta and will launch on iOS in the beginning of 2013.

The Kickstarter campaign runs from October 2 – November 1, 2012. To contribute funds, visit: www.mindblownlabs.com/ks
