Looking to encourage more girls into ICT? Take a look at this video which shows an initiative encouraging girls and young women to consider careers in the growing field of ICT. The next International Girls in ICT day, April 25th 2013, Girls and students are invited to spend the day at the office of ICT companies and government agencies to better understand the opportunities the ICT sector holds.
International Girls’ in ICT Day is an initiative backed by ITU Member States in ITU Plenipotentiary Resolution 70 (Guadalajara, 2010) to create a global environment that empowers and encourages girls and young women to consider careers in the growing field of information and communication technologies (ICTs). International Girls in ICT Day is celebrated on the 4th Thursday in April every year.
To ensure that interested students can find more information about such events in their country, the ICT Studies and Careers Section includes links to national Girls in ICT Day activities. Public and private sector organizations are encouraged to consult the Girls in ICT Day Toolkit to help plan a Girls in ICT Day event.
