George Lucas Plans to Spend $4 billion Supporting Education

What would you do with $4.05 billion? Spend it on education of course! This week George Lucas sold his Star Wars Empire ‘Lucasfilm’ to the Walt Disney Company and plans to use the money to support a foundation that will primary focus on educational issues.

“George Lucas has expressed his intention, in the event the deal closes, to donate the majority of the proceeds to his philanthropic endeavors.” Say a spokesperson from Lucasfilm.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the foundation receiving the funding is still unknown, but Lucas is currently chairman of Edutopia, produced by The George Lucas Educational Foundation.
