Knowmia is a new venture that utilizes video technology in innovative ways to help students succeed in school. Knowmia crowdsources and organizes video lessons from great teachers to help students improve their grades. Featuring video lessons from a wide variety of outstanding teachers, Knowmia helps students grasp challenging topics covered in class and prepare for upcoming tests or courses. The new learning platform enables students of all academic achievement levels to find the supplemental instruction they need.
“We want to alleviate the stress students and parents feel about school by providing personalized learning based on the talents of great teachers everywhere,” said Ariel Braunstein, Co-Founder and CEO of Knowmia. “By democratizing access to this untapped world of knowledge, we empower students to learn from the teachers who best fit their individual needs.”
Knowmia Opens Up New Options for Supplemental Learning
Currently Knowmia is open to the public in a beta version and the company plans to introduce new capabilities in the fall. Knowmia is building out the site with more video lessons in all subject areas as well as added-value features that can help students quickly identify areas they may need to explore further. One significant new example of this is coming soon with Knowmia Mini-Courses — teacher-curated sets of lessons, sourced from Knowmia’s library, that include teacher comments and quizzes to measure progress in less than one hour.
Credentialed teachers are encouraged to register with Knowmia to post their video lessons at no cost. They also have access to the free Knowmia Teach iPad app for assistance creating their lessons if needed. Students and parents can already find more than 7,000 free video lessons on the Knowmia site with more being added daily.
